It was announced in late May that North Dakota State won their second consecutive and third overall Summit League Commissioner’s Cup. The Bison finished with 77 points in the Commissioner’s Cup standings, one point ahead of rival South Dakota. The Summit League Commissioner’s Cup is given annually to the member school with the most combined points in relationship to league-sponsored men’s and women’s athletics programs.

Along with that, the Bison men’s athletic programs finished first in the Dr. William Steinbrecher All-Sports Award. North Dakota State’s women’s programs finished second behind South Dakota in the Dr. Helen Smiley All-Sports Award. Those two honors are given to the schools with the most points in men’s and women’s sports respectively.

Taking home the Commissioner’s Cup this season and last, the Bison also won the award in 2011-12. “This success is a direct result of hard work, determination and sacrifice throughout the year by all in Bison Athletics,” said Director of Athletics Matt Larsen. “We also share this award with Bison Nation. It is the generous support of our fan and alumni base that makes these successes possible.”
